“Jeff is a master craftsman with the highest level of integrity and commitment to excellence. His 3D modelling and CNC lathe process creates a consistency that is unique among mouthpiece makers. The mouthpieces in my custom line give me the ability to move easily from orchestra to solo playing with a sound that is truly my voice.”

My Solo model the "Sarastro Aria" gives me a beautiful pallet of color capabilities combined with homogeneous sound across the entire usable range of the bass trombone.

My orchestral line includes three models, each with unique target uses.

  • The "Sarastro Obligato" Orchestral Model is a great all-around use mouthpiece, leaning in direction of mid low to high playing.

  • The "Sarastro Gravitas" is my design for loud and heavy playing in mid low and low.

  • The "Sarastro Basso Profundo" Contrabass model is the perfect mouthpiece for extreme low and loud playing.”

Specifications

The new Pollard line is designed to have a more familiar feel and compression on the face for players coming from other mouthpiece lines. These mouthpieces offer some of our thinnest rims and as the sizes increase the rims become narrower like with other traditional mouthpiece makers.

  • 800 Rim Width: .240”/ 6.10mm

  • 850 Rim Width: .230”/ 5.84mm

  • 900 Rim Width: .220”/ 5.59mm

  • 950 Rim Width: .210”/ 5.33mm

  • Borrowing DNA from our standard series mouthpieces combined with our new EON design, the Aria model gives unprecedented tonal variety and control throughout the register. This allows the player to mold their sound to better communicate their musical ideas in solo playing, while not sacrificing overall tone.

    Available Rim Sizes: 800 (28mm), 850 (28.5mm), 900 (29mm) , 950 (29.5mm)

    Throat: .312”

  • The obligato is designed to help the player fulfill their roll as an integral part of the low brass section. The more traditional feel and compression allows quick cutting entrances while maintaining a rich, powerful tone.

    Available Rim Sizes: 800 (28mm), 850 (28.5mm), 900 (29mm) , 950 (29.5mm)

    Throat: .312”

  • Bring the power and weight to the section for works that require the loudest volumes. The depth of the Gravitas model allows the player to put all of their power through the horn without breaking up and losing clarity.

    Available Rim Sizes: 800 (28mm), 850 (28.5mm), 900 (29mm) , 950 (29.5mm)

    Throat: .312”

  • Our most open backbore, designed to be free flowing as a complement to our new higher compression cups. Available for all bass trombone mouthpiece models

  • The Basso Profundo is an extension of the Gravitas and is designed to be approachable without compromise. This mouthpiece is at home in the loudest of Ring Cycle settings or the most delicate of chamber settings.

    Rim ID: 1.200” /30.5mm

    Rim Width: .210” / 5.33mm

    Throat: .320” / 8.13mm
